Jimmy Rioja

Double Bass, Electric Bass Guitar, Guitar, Piano

Jimmy started his musical career learning Double Bass in his hometown, Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), at Instituto de Bellas Artes. He became a teacher of the same instrument and has trained students who are studying in universities around the world.

Jimmy earned a Bachelor of Music from the Universidad Privada del Alto (UPEA), and a Master’s in Music Production and Composition (UPEA). Throughout his years of teaching, Jimmy enjoys teaching guitar and bass using his experience from training courses in Suzuki Pedagogy. In addition, he also holds a Certificate in Contemporary Musician and Jazz Studies by Musinetwork School of Music/online (Boston, MA).

He has participated in various versions of the International Renaissance Music Festival and Baroque of Misiones de Chiquitos (Bolivia) with the Arakaendar orchestra. In 2011 he obtained a scholarship to study double bass at West Palm Beach Atlantic University (Miami, FL) also participating in the Stringendo Festival at the same University.

From 2013 to 2019, Jimmy served as first Double Bass and section guide in the Orchestra
Youth Symphony of Santa Cruz and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

Music is Jimmy’s passion, and he is constantly learning and preparing himself to impart excellent instruction to his students. He speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
