Raggie Cover

Violin, Viola, Beginner Piano

Raggie Cover began her musical journey at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, Norway, starting violin lessons at the age of 7. Her musical upbringing consisted of lots of chamber music and orchestral playing as well as some musical theatre and solo opportunities. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in violin performance under the tutelage of Andrew Sherwood at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and began playing the viola along the way, studying with Richard Crabtree. In most of the winter and summer breaks of 2015 to 2021 she participated in the Norwegian National Youth Orchestra playing under notable conductors such as Vasily Petrenko, Juanjo Mena, and Elim Chan and with great soloists such as Truls Mørk, Arve Tellefsen, and Tine Thing Helseth. When she moved to the United States, she studied with Dr. Katrin Meidell at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University in Georgia, completing a Master’s Degree in viola performance. While in Georgia she played with the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus (GA) Symphony Orchestra, and performed many gigs across the Southeast on both violin and viola. Columbus, Georgia is also where she discovered her love of teaching.  Since moving to the DC metro area, she has expanded her teaching efforts, won third place in the 2022 American Viola Society Orchestral Audition Competition, and participated in the 2023 National Orchestral Institute + Festival. In her spare time Raggie enjoys spending time with her husband Jeremy and their two cats, Kevin and Else.
